Garage sales have always been a wonder for me, simply because we didn’t have them in Russia - totally different mentality there. But I like the concept: what one family has grown out of and doesn’t need anymore passes it on to another, for a very little fee.
That being said, I had no idea that if you wanted to score best pieces (before the smart people with big trucks), you have to be there bright and early at 8 or even 7am! On a Saturday... the day, I’m not usually up until 9:30!

Art and frames are my primary goal at these events, so this summer bouquet embroidery in a sturdy frame went with me. For $5, I simply couldn’t leave it behind. I’ll be changing the blue matting later on.
The brass base on this lamp was also hard to pass by. With a little polishing, this piece will make a nice gift for some special people living by the ocean:
Oh, another thing I love about garage sales – they teach you a very good lesson on “what not to buy because you'll be getting rid of it anyway”. Like those rumba shakers (and other souvenirs) from vacations in Mexico - almost every house had them for sale!
