My old self

It's hard not to get lost into the new routine once you have a baby. Priorities shift and you can find your-old-self kind of forgotten, put aside, not a priority anymore. At least it was like that for me.
Now that baby G is a bit easier to handle (knock on the wood), I think I can slowly transition back to my old desires and hobbies. It won't be the same anymore, nothing is, really, but I gotta do it. I want to do it.

I bought the skein of yarn pictured a while ago hoping to knit something summery for the baby, before the baby. Didn't happen. Now it's been laying in the basket long enough to get noticed. And isn't it fun and colourful? I must admit, I'm tempted to get another one and knit something for myself too!

Have a great weekend all! Hope you get to enjoy whetever it is that gives you pleasure:)

Summer socks and tile progress

Weather was not pleasant at all this weekend. Although sun did pick through, it was cold and gusty out, which made me want to put on these:
The pattern was a delight to knit and I loved working with bamboo yarn.

On another note, we started tiling the bathroom. Finally. Yay! Oh how I love the smell of wet mortar and seeing the tile building up within hours - made me smile. We are in PROGRESS!

PEI cowl

The cowl I’ve started a while back is now finished. The pattern was vey easy to follow and I’m happy with how it turned out.
And yes, posing for photos outside on a snowy day was a bad idea - I’m just starting to recover from a very nasty cold.:)

Happy International Women’s Day!

International Women’s Day is a very similar to Mother’s day celebration that we grew up with in Russia.
Some women like to be gifted with flowers, sweets or perfume on this day, but I got yarn and couldn’t be happier:) Started a project with it immediately!

What are your “unusual” gift preferences when it comes to days when men express their admiration for us?

Knitted dishcloths

One evening of work and all done. I would have finished earlier if V didn't check my work at the beginning and suggested making them into rectangles instead of squares. He was right, these are much easier to handle, to hold in a hand flat when actually doing dishes.
I ended up knitting them instead of crocheting. The Brioche stitch pattern was super easy, the beauty of it - no WR stitches, therefore a much faster finished product. I ended up using Ecru and Bright lime colours instead of white, hopefully they will stand the daily "use and abuse"!

Knitted pillow

When I came across a knitted pillow in “Canadian Living” magazine I immediately fell in love with and had to have it:) Next thing I know, I was picking up some yarn and needles to get started.
After watching a few Youtube tutorials (had to catch up on the terminology: k3tog, bind off?), I was knitting all my troubles away!
Knitting is like a meditation of sorts. There is something magical about the whole process; repeating the pattern, switching the work from one needle to another, counting stitches, watching your hands move as if they’ve always known how to.
It's my favorite winter evening activity.
