This week I’ve decided to take it slow and leave V alone with the bathroom. We had “the talk” the other day when he reminded me that he’s not a professional renovator and that even when things look easy, they take time to install. So I stopped my daily, inpatient inquires on the progress.
I blame the pot lights. According to V, it was like 100 degrees in the attic where he had to put metal boxes above the lights in order to shield them from the roof insulation, while also balancing his weight on wooden beams. Apparently there might be a fire hazard if pot lights aren't protected. All the sweating sure didn’t help the process. And then I came home after a day in my nicely air-conditioned office with naïve “ Honey, how is it coming?” The rest you can imagine. I tell ya, there is a reason people charge that much for pot lights installation.
I get it now.
So while I’m not allowed in the room, I’ve decided to spend my week reading. Reading some heavy stuff like “Creating life: what every woman needs to know about having a baby and a career” and some lighter reads from gorgeous and inspiring blogs such as “the marion house book” to balance it out. I’m glad I’ve discovered her blog now; when I’m finding myself being drawn not only to interior design but also to other topics that I’m sure every childless woman in her early thirties (late twenties) starts to think about at some point.
Oi, installing pot lights in an attic in this heat? That's rough, especially if you're experiencing the same heatwave I am here in TO. It will be worth it though, as renos almost always are!
ReplyDeleteJust wanted to drop a note to say thank you for linking to my blog (On your 'Blog Finds' page, of course. I can't claim the talent of Emma at The Marion House Book!) I'm always happy to find a fellow Canadian!
The heat in the roof was pretty much like sauna!
DeleteThank you for stopping by and for the support:)
