Weekend round-up and thoughts on footwear

Even though we both had to work part-time Saturday, we’ve managed to have a very productive weekend. Sunday was the perfect summer weather: 23C, light breeze and no humidity - perfect day to do some raspberry picking or spend time gardening or any outdoor activity pretty much.
Although the weather was nice and sun didn't burn, I still managed to get sun burned; “hello” ugly t-shirt-shaped tan! Is it just me or does anybody else forget to put on sun block before heading out?

Aside from being outdoors, I cooked like a maniac this weekend. Perhaps it had to do with the fact that during regular work week V does all the cooking. With him being self-employed, gender roles in our marriage had somehow switched up. I get home later than him and dinner is already done (mostly it’s something grilled, like fish or chicken, which I’m totally ok with) and all I’m left to do is washing the dishes after dinner. So far, I love this arrangement.
I also got to treat myself this weekend:) I’m not a shopaholic by any means, but I was out of summer shoes and needed something comfy to wear for the rest of the summer. Got myself a pair of proper flip-flops and these “lighter-than-the-air-Toms-alike” casuals with much needed sole support:
Both from here.
I must admit, I’m officially out of the age (and stage) in my life when I could afford wearing under $20 flats or flip-flops in the summer. I’ve noticed that after turning 30, my feet and heels crave proper arch support and wearing flat footwear all day doesn’t contribute to my overall well-being. Having read an article in a recent issue of CL only firmed up my new resolution.(linked to a similar article, I couldn't find the one published in August 13 issue.)

How was your weekend? Any exciting purchases to share?

  1. agree with you 100% on the comfy shoes issue. After having Miss C, I can't wear anything unless the material is nice and soft and has great arch support.

It might also have to do with my impatience to "wear in" shoes. That never happens anymore :)
